Iria Lopez Mesa – Consultant Ophthalmology

She has worked as an Ophthalmologist in Ciudad Real (Spain) since 2014, when she finished her residency program. She is a Member of Spanish Glaucoma Society (SEG) and Ophthalmology Society of Castilla La Mancha (SOCAM) where she has been part of Boards of Directors from 2018 to 2022. Currently, she is a consultant ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract and glaucoma.

As a General Ophthalmologist, she performs a wide range of routine and special tests and treatments such as: documents visual acuity, refraction, specials tests (including fluorescein angiography, OCT, ultrasonography, visual field, Angio-OCT, pachymetry, biometry, gonioscopy) various treatments such as laser YAG Iridotomy, YAG Capsulotomy, Argon Laser Photocoagulation, Intravitreal injections. She also has extensive surgical experience in Cataract with Phacoemulsification and perform regularly intra-vitreal injections and Ozurdex. In the last four years, she had sub specialist training in medical and surgical glaucoma. She gained expertise in Non-Penetrating Deep Sclerectomy (NPDS), Argon Laser Trabeculoplasty, YAG Goniopuncture (post NPDS) and have perform some cases of Ahmed glaucoma Valve implant and of Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) with Xen Gel Implant.
