Advances in breast cancer risk prediction

The Jameel Clinic from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Abdul Latif Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health) is collaborating with the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh. He develops and runs joint trials on Mirai, a flagship breast cancer prediction tool, for the first time in Saudi Arabia. Mirai uses a deep learning system to predict breast cancer in mammograms up to five years in advance of conventional methods.

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) is a JCI-accredited tertiary/quaternary care hospital and a regional leader in healthcare, medical education, and research in oncology and other specialties. The hospital is working on enhancing Mirai’s performance on a wide range of patients, with the aim of enhancing breast cancer prevention in Saudi Arabia and around the world.

The Jameel Clinic and King Faisal Specialist Hospital intend to work together again to develop additional clinical AI tools, such as an AI lung cancer risk predictor.
