The licence depends on where the job is: DHA for Dubai, DOH for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and MOH for Sharjah and the other northern emirates. Saudi Arabia uses SCFHS and Qatar uses QCHP. Your document verification is recognised region-wide, so it is done only once even if you apply in more than one place.
You need your medical degree with transcripts, a valid licence from your country of last employment, a good standing certificate issued within the last six months, and a passport copy and photo. Surgical specialties also need a two-year logbook signed by a medical director, plus certified translations where required. Preparing these correctly is what prevents most delays.
For doctors from recognised countries it usually takes around three months, with document verification the main variable at four to eight weeks. The authority’s own timelines are fixed, but a licensing service avoids the delays caused by document errors or wrong grading, and starts verification early so nothing waits in sequence.
You need a recognised medical degree, a completed internship, and the clinical experience DHA sets for your grade, meeting the Unified Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR). A general practitioner usually needs around two years after internship; specialists and consultants are judged on their qualifications and where they trained. We check your eligibility before you apply.
You can complete your registration first, but it only activates into a full licence once an employer sponsors you. Running licensing and placement together means you are ready to begin work the moment you accept an offer, rather than starting a separate job search afterwards.
A concise CV that leads with your qualifications is the starting point, but most doctors reach the right hospitals through a medical job consultancy contracted with hospital groups across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. It matches your specialty to live vacancies and handles the introductions.
Salaries are completely tax free and negotiated individually. As a guide, Western-trained specialist consultants can earn a basic AED 80,000 to 90,000 a month, often with housing, schooling, and flight allowances on top, which lifts take-home pay well above the base figure.
You can apply yourself through the official portal; no agency is required. Most doctors use medical licensing services anyway, because they remove the document rejections and grading errors that add weeks, and because licensing and the job search can then run together.
